Business Development Manager - Pittsburgh, PA, USA


Job purpose:
Join our team to bring Carbon Analytics carbon emissions accounting technology to the world and help our customers tackle climate change.

Pittsburgh, PA, USA based role.

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to generate new prospects and earn new business for the company. This candidate will be focused and have strong communication skills. They should be able to think critically and creatively when making plans and have a demonstrated ability to execute a particular strategy.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Understand and enjoy learning about our customer’s challenges and opportunities in measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions

  • Understand and communicate the ways in which Carbon Analytics can assist them

  • Manage both our existing sales pipeline and developing new business opportunities

  • Lead development of proposals and presentations for new business and partnerships

  • Building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets

  • Identify trends and new customer needs as they arise to help guide product and service development

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies

  • Motivate the team as it grows, track performance, and report metrics

Required qualifications:

  • 4 - 5 years' prior industry related business development experience (environment and/or software as a service)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven knowledge and execution of successful business development campaigns

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Passion for solving problems for your clients

Preferred qualifications:

  • Environmental / social impact and or clean energy background

  • Environmental science or sustainability educational background

  • Startup / SaaS or carbon accounting background

Location: Pittsburgh based full time roll. Min. 3 days a week in the office. Part time to start considered. San Francisco or New York may be considered, please inquire.

Senior Carbon Analyst

This is a new role in the company that will be responsible for working with clients and helping them measure and reduce their carbon footprints. We are open to both full and part time applicants. The Senior Carbon Analyst may also act as a consultant to clients, while helping the company build solid credentials on measurement robustness. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects working with clients to measure organizational carbon footprints.

  • Assist the development of carbon reduction plans with clients for their organization.

  • Contribute to the design and development of product offerings within Carbon Analytics platform.

  • Identify, develop, and continuously expand Carbon Analytics database of industry emissions factors.

  • Be an in-house expert on GHG measurement and develop long term vision for product development.

  • Engage with partners, clients and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Ensure Carbon Analytics offerings have robustness in GHG measurement.

Qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an environmental or sustainability science.

  • Previous experience in sustainability domain, specifically with extensive experience (>3 years) in greenhouse gas accounting. 

  • Desirable: Experience working in carbon emissions accounting and reporting frameworks (voluntary or regulatory) such as the GHG Protocol Corporate, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Supply Chain Standards.

  • Understanding of the corporate climate accounting and target-setting landscape, and the underlying science, its challenges and limitations.

  • Strong analytic skills and a proven track record of problem-solving with a passion for solutions to climate change.

  • Basic understanding of technology and SaaS industry in the climate space.
